iApp templates are missing from my Big IP device

Hi

I'm trying to configure a pair of LTM devices and I'm having trouble with config-sync'ing the two boxes. One of them is throwing up an error when I try and sync:

"Sync error on gs-llblg-g-c4-s1.markets.global.lloydstsb.com: Load failed from gs-llblg-g-c12-s2.markets.global.lloydstsb.com 01070734:3: Configuration error: Can't delete APL script (f5.apl_common) it is referenced by one or more application templates (f5.bea_weblogic)"

When I check the iApp templates on the box in question, I can see that they are missing?

Any idea why this could've happened and how I go about re-loading them onto the box?

Thanks

J

  • Hi James,

It's a simple matter of downloading the iApp templates off support.f5.com and importing them to the f5's that are missing them.

    Cheers

  • Thanks for this, would it be easier to copy them from the other device?

Do you know whereabouts the templates are stored on the device?

    James,

Looks like the generic iApp template folders are stored here: /usr/local/www/tmui/WEB-INF/classes/org/apache/jsp/help/en/tmui/app_005ftemplate.

not sure if you can simply copy them from one box to another tho. The ones on support.f5.com will just be any new ones since the release of the tmos version so won't include the default set i'm afraid (unless I've missed this of course).

The error indicates that the iApp templates are present, or at least f5.bea_weblogic is present, which is the first template in alphabetical order. Many templates use some common presentation code which is held in a CLI script called "apl_common". It is this script that is missing, so I would try replacing/repairing that script rather than messing with the templates. What is the TMOS version running on these 2 LTM devices?

  • They're brand new so are using 11.3.0.

I've managed to get around the issue by factory defaulting the config back to the start. This has restored the templates.

    Appreciate your help though! Thanks

  • any other way to get back the iApp templates without starting the config from scratch?

    I have a problem syncing my 2 virtual guests LTM10200 (v11.4.1). A and B

Using the GUI, I cannot see the iApp templates in my box B.(they exist in the directory /usr/local/www/tmui/WEB-INF/classes/org/apache/jsp/help/en/tmui/app_005ftemplate)

Error is: Sync error on B: Load failed from A 01020036:3: The requested Security log profile (Log all requests) was not found.

    thanks for your help!

  • for my problem as described above, I tried to reboot box A several times. That did not solve the problem. I contacted an F5-expert and he told me to use the CLI to reload the sys config (load sys config). I did that, and tired to sync the HA pair and...it works!

    Many thanks to the expert!
