How to know which virtual server is handling a particular traffic

Hello,

I would like to know a command to know for sure which virtual server is handling a particular traffic.

I'm using 5200 as firewall and I have lots of L3 forwarding virtual servers.

So I was hoping for an equivalent of Cisco's: show ip route 10.0.0.1.

From this I can know for sure what's the route or connected interface that handles said traffic.

Some thing like: tmsh show ltm virtual-address 10.0.0.1

But NOT like: tmsh show ltm virtual-address | grep 10.0.0.1

Cheers!

Bojan

  • Tcpdump is only valid if there is an actual traffic going through a virtual server.

  • Hi Mate,

As Samir mentioned, run TCPDUMP and see where the traffis is going.

You can run the below command for tcpdump.

    tcpdump -s0 -nni 0.0:nnn host <IP address> -w /var/tmp/trouble.pcap

You can download the file from /var/tmp/ and open it with wireshark.

    Hope this helps.

  • Hello,

This helps ONLY if there is a traffic on the virtual server. I use this and understand this very well. The question here is if there's a way to know for sure which particular VS is handling traffic from config only and not from traffic.

    Thank you all nevertheless.
