I figured out what is going on here and was able to reproduce the problem in my environment as well. It looks like because you are accessing the virtual from a non-routeable IP, it is setting the country and state to null. When it hits the line that attempts to increment the value of the null key, it pukes. You could add a catch or set all null values to XX or some other non-existent country code.
