GTM ZoneRunner with iControl REST, possible?
According to our search in the REST API (F5 BigIP 12.1.2) and previous messages on DevCentral, it seems that REST API is not yet available for GTM ZoneRunner (<> /mgmt/tm/ltm/dns/zone).
Neither with tmsh:

Is it still True?
Will it change with next F5 BigIP release (>=13.0)?
Otherwise, what solution could be used for an automated remote deployment?
iControl Soap could be, but it isn't clear where to find more information: https://devcentral.f5.com/questions/icontrol-and-zonerunner
The workaround explain here K7032 is not conceivable for production...

I would also like to know about zone runner access via REST API.

This seems like a really big hole in an otherwise awesome set of APIs. I realize that there are clear work arounds (like using CLI as an interface, etc) but as an app developer, having access to this via REST would make the negotiation with my ops team a lot easier.

It is true there is no cli support for ZoneRunner. As you mention the knowledge base article gives you the path to safely update the named files via the command line. Armed with that knowledge, it would be possible to create a tmsh script or iApp to implement that logic and then you could pass data via REST to use with those tools. Not an easy task to get right, but there are indirect options that can be explored. I discuss this as part of this week's Post of the Week video.
