Has anyone encountered a request where you are asked to separate requests coming in on the GTM from if you see pre-..*** or some other prefix that you would send it to different WIP's?

Sorry, if I am missing your use case description. WIP is an FQDN and it needs to match the incoming DNS request. If you configured a WIP for the specific FQDN, it will be automatically handled by that WIP.
