Feb 04, 2009FTP pools
Hey all,
I hope this is an easy one, but I can not find the answer. I setup a ftp pool. From what I can tell SNAT pool is set to Auto Map and it works. I really need to log source IP...

Feb 05, 2009Hi: this is more of a config question, but here goes...assuming your FTP server is pointing to the BigIP as its default route, you should be able to safely turn off SNAT automap on the virtual server (you shouldn't require any pool changes here). This will allow you to preserve the client IP without any problems: the server will see the client address and pass back to the BigIP to deal with the routing.
That said, if your FTP server is pointing to another gateway, you'll need to source the traffic from the BigIP and use SNAT - otherwise you'll end up with an asymmetric route and things probably won't work.
Hope this helps,
-Matt
