Flow in a "Performance(Layer 4)" VIP.
Beginning with the basics, what I know is the Virtual Server Type "Performance(Layer 4)" means that the F5 will not terminate any user connections. It will allow the connections to pass directly to the server. i.e. in this case the TCP session is between the user and the server.
I hope my understanding is correct.
If that is the case how can a VIP listening on port 443 pass connection to server behind which listen on port 80(or any other unsecured port). The VIP is not having any SSL Profile configure for it.
I seen a VIP configured in this way and wanted to make sure that this can work. I have not been able to check for any traffic flow myself.
Thanks!! N.

Even in FastL4 mode a virtual server is still a full proxy.

N,
Are you certain it is a Performance VS? SSL offloading is not an option with either the Performance L4 or the Performance HTTP VS types.
