Firepass in Safari and Chrome on Vista

Hi my first post to the forum so please forgive any mistakes in protocol. I haven't found any previous posts about the problem and think this is the correct forum anyway.

I am using a Firepass v6.0.3 and am attempting to document the procedures our users will need to go through in various browsers when they connect for the first time with all the things that download, have to be confirmed, etc. I have successfully done this for IE8, Firefox 3 and Opera 9. However when I try Safari or Chrome (most recent versions) a get the login page but am taken through to a page that is blank apart from the usual F5 banner, and nothing attempts to install. Both browsers are fresh installs without any addons/popup blockers, etc.

Any hints where the problem lies please?

Thanks

James
  • To answer my own question I've discovered a hotfix. I'll post again if this doesn't resolve the problem. Thanks.
  • Upgrading to Hotfix 603.4.3 has not fixed the problem unfortunately. Any advice please?
  • Please be more specific, what do you mean just a F5 banner? You probably need to add the UAS into the new browser section, list it as a desktop browser.
  • When I login on Firefox for the first time I am requested to install a/some plugins to allow the VPN to work. If I do this on Chrome or Safari I am not offered anything beyond that blank page I described. We are not performing any client checks at all, so I think adding the UAS is not relevant?

Sorry to be so vague, I'm new to the product. Thank you for your help.

  • So you see nothing on your home page?

Add the UAS into the new browsers, it takes like twenty seconds to do.

Safari and Chrome are not supported in current version of FirePass, SAM and APM products.

Safari and Chrome require more strict content type declaration for their plug-ins (all low case characters). Also Chrome has a bug\feature "Plug-in cannot receive site URL using PNP_GetURL" and it breaks F5 plug in (F5 CR106722).

I do not have strict milestones but probably APM and FirePass 6.1.0 will be released w\o support for Windows versions of Safari and Chrome. I would expect support for this products in cumulative hot-fixes and future product releases.
  • How can Safari not be supported, it is supported in OSX?

Also, he is getting to the logon screen and it is showing up blank. How is that related?
