F5 LTM cluster without float IP

Hi all, I need to help. I'm working with an F5 previously configured by another society. The previous "engineer" has configured all self IP's for each vlan without the floating ip address. All worked fine with SNAT and this mistake don't generated problems or other. At this step, I'm trying to deploy Lync 2013 and the best practice expect a solution in routed mode without snat. I tried to configure the floating IP, some networks, start to use the float ip address also in other vlans and obviously, some service didn't work correctly.

Have you any suggestion? Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english.

I'll try and help from your description.

So, is the issue that you've created a floating self IP on one vlan for your lync traffic but other vlans are using this address for snat?

Are you using snat automap on your other virtuals? If so then this might be your issue as floating self ips take precedence even on other plans. See https://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/solutions/public/7000/300/sol7336.html

You might try snat pools instead.

Hope this helps and I've understood the issue correctly.

  • Hi Nathan, that's the problem. The SNAT Automap and self IP address selection.

    Thanks for your time.
