Aug 31, 2009Hi, I bet if you look in the logterminal.txt file for the computer you will see a line such as:
CDialer : : OnCallback : Error occurred =720
The devilish 720 error is a Windows error and not a Firepass VPN Client error. I have run into this several times and have gone through the hoops with F5 support.
There are several things that can cause this. F5 support has some great troubleshooting info, but none if it has fixed this problem for me.
Instead I hit up the Interwebs and found several things that have worked.
First thing to check is device manager. Click View -> Show hidden devices then expand the Network Adapters section and look for "WAN Miniport" devices with errors. That's a bad sign and they will need to be fixed.
If you don't have any errors with your WAN Miniport devices then a barbarous and bloody manual delete and reinstall of the WAN Miniport drivers may do the trick. This has solved the "error 720" problem for me on several occasions. I am not making guarantees or telling you to do it; I am merely speaking of my own experiences supporting the F5 VPN Client on thousands of computers where it's not optimal to suggest reloading the OS instead.
Here's a URL that describes the process I have used with success:
