F5 Healthmonitor based on multiple URLs

Hello Folks,

I have a strange requirement to create a health monitor on a VIP based on two different URL status. I have tried using a external health monitor and whatever the way, it got failed.

First URL URL: http://1.1.1.1/greenchilly Second URL http://2.2.2.2/redtomato

First URL is returning 200 OK and second one is returning 403 Forbidden (Expected Response)

Is anyone aware of this kind of solution?

  • Hi Jinshu,

You can still use regular Health-Monitors for this more or less unusual requirement.

When you create a new Health-Monitor, its possible to overwrite the destination IP/Ports to fixed values. By setting the IP to 1.1.1.1 the Health-Monitor will always monitor this IP even in the case the monitor is attached to node 2.2.2.2. With this knowledge in mind, just create monitors with fixed IPs, required send/receive strings and then attach both minitors to a single pool/node and set the availability requirement to "all monitors".

    Cheers, Kai
