DNS menu in LTM - what's it for? Why on some LTM devices but not others?
We have one active/standby pair of LTMs at 11.5.2, and they have on their web admin GUI a "DNS" entry. They're not licensed for GTM; and identical units, bought at the same time and also at 11.5.2, and with the exact same active modules per the license display do NOT have this menu entry. ??
Is there meant to be a DNS menu entry on LTM (maybe new after 11.5.2 or something)? If so, what's it used for?
thx!

It is the "DNS Express" or the "DNS Services" module (depending on license).
"DNS Express is an engine that provides the ability for the BIG-IP system to act as a high-speed, authoritative DNS server. With DNS Express configured, the BIG-IP system can answer DNS queries for a DNS zone and respond to zone transfer requests from specified DNS nameservers (clients). Additionally, zone transfer communications can be secured with TSIG keys. "
Hope this helps,
Sam
