Different methods for finding active device in active/standby cluster

Hi.

Currently working on a function that determines the active LTM device in a Active/standby cluster. I have found the method get_failover_state in both Management.Device and System.Failover. Is both of them equally viable for determining the active device or is there some scenario where one of them will return active or passive when it's in fact not?
