Creating subinterfaces

Greetings,

Issue:

We are migrating from the F5-BIG-1000,S,C platform to the 1500 hardware platform.

The F5-BIG-1000,S,C platform has 8 physical ports, where as the 1500 has 4 physical ports.

Goal:

To create sub-interfaces on the 1500 platform that will support our existing VLANS/IP Address Scheme.

I've reviewed the following documentation, but have yet to find any mention of creating sub-interfaces

https://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/products/big-ip_ltm/manuals/product/bigip9_3config.pdf.

pdf

https://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/products/big-ip_ltm/manuals/product/bigip9_3mgmt.pdf.pdf

Example of what we are trying to accomplish:

Interface 1.1 IP address 192.168.5.1

Subinterface 1.1.2 IP address 192.168.160.1

Any suggestions/recommendations are greatly appreciated.

    Hi Lisa -

You can't exactly create subinterfaces since the TMM interfaces are abstracted by TMOS, but you can apply multiple IP addresses to the same interface.

In the GUI, navigate to Network / SelfIPs, add the 2nd IP address and select the vlan you want it to live on.

    HTH

    /deb
