Creating Console App w/ API

I'm trying to create a console app that will use the Firepass API to establish a network connection. I was wondering if there are any known issues with this approach or if anyone else has done this sort of thing. (currently my (vb6) app isn't successfully establishing a connection, so I just want to make sure this is possible).
