Configure/Force Portal Page to close logged off tabs

Is it possible to configure a portal page to automatically close tabs when a user logs out of a portal resource?

 

I have a portal page with SSO links to OWA, Citrix, ADFS, and some others. When a user logs in to the portal and then clicks an SSO resource a new tab is opened in the browser for that SSO resource. This is good, users can then go from tab to tab maintaining their portal based session. But, I think, it would be better if when the user logs out from say OWA that the OWA tab would close. Less confusing.

 

Some logout pages give users a prompt for logging back in or to do something else that might result in unexpected results. And some mobile browsers don't present tabs in such a way that we can simply tell users to close the tab after they log out.
