Configure load balance for a pool of ICAP servers

Hi,

 

There is one request on our environment regarding ICAP servers. The request is conflagration virtual server to load balance requests and/or responses to a pool of ICAP servers which used as Web content filtering.

 

I am particularly interested in knowing the steps for configure the mentioned request

    Just i would like to clarify regarding traffic flow, it will be as a below :

     

    Request:

     

    Client HTTP request >> Foreword Proxy (another vendor) send ICAP request >> F5 load balancing >> ICAP servers (Web content filtering)

     

    Responses :

     

    ICAP server >> F5 >> Proxy >> Web Servers

  • It shouldn't be too difficult, Setup a FastL4 of similar server with a Pool attached with the Content servers behind.

     

    On your Proxy send traffic to the VIP on the F5.

     

  • There shouldn't be anything unusual about this. You'd simply create a virtual server and pool that load balances the port 1344/8080/something traffic to the ICAP server.
