The problem seems localised to only some Macs in my organisation. I have heard rumours that F5 have a new client that addresses this issue (maybe others) - but haven't seen the new client yet.

 

 

 

For me, i find (I think) that if I explicitly click 'Disconnect' on the UI when it is wanting a token card input and then reconnect, this seems to reduce the likelihood of it happening, but I am not sure if that is just wishful thinking on my part ...

 

 

 

There doesn't seem to be anything else that indicates a reason for the problem. My hunch it is some environmental thing, maybe triggering some race condition that (for example) locks a resource or something like that at the wrong time, causing an exception that is not handled.
