I started a project for configuration backup of F5 devices. I though I would share it here.

Excellent idea. I'm going to make some tests on it. If you need anything from us, shout your thought here ;) - will check this out.

Just set this up - I thought that the reboot question at the end of config could be better. It asks if you want to reboot without prompting for the correct answers. What I normally do it use something like: echo -e "Do you want to reboot? n/[y]:" and if they don't input n then reboot. ie echo -e "Do you want to reboot? n/[y]:" read yesno if [ x$yesno -ne xy ] then reboot fi Hope that makes some sense - Amanpreet_Singh

Hi, Did you worked on its internal Cron tab to schedule the backup job?

The backup job is a Python daemon. It's pretty much just a "while" loop that does a DB lookup every 10 seconds to see if it is time to back up. See f5backup.py line 101. - AShafer33_20640

Hi Eric, We have used this utility for a few years and it has been great for us. Thank you for putting it together. Currently we are receiving an error in the backup log only occurring on our publisher. I was wondering if you could provide some insight on why we are receving it. The other HA device is backing up without issue. Thanks for any info!

Hi Sir, will this work on F5 version 11.6 and later?

It should. I dont think the iControl SOAP API calls it uses have changed since 11.3, which was the code version I was using when I was a customer. Once you get the appliance, do a sudo yum -y update on the CLI and reboot to make sure you have the latest Linux security patches. - Allanwynn_16283
