NimbostratusConfigSync is syncing the floating ip's?
in my HA pair, each box has a self ip, and then they share a floating ip. The floating IP is unit 1 on A, and unit 2 on B. However, after i run configsync, it makes both boxes Unit 1 on the self IP....

The only time you would need a unit 2 definition is if you are running active-active rather than active-standby (which hopefully you aren't - active/active generally complicates things more than it helps).
So the floating IP should always be designated for unit 1, and that is intended to get synced.
