With your 1600 you'll be able to add APM as an add-on without problems.
Link controller is running on TMOS so everything should be possible as it's the same software.

CirrocumulusThank you for your comment, I still don't believe it is not possible in reality. Technically I should work, but it's not available for sale. Today I received the following reply from F5 sales UK;

Although a BIG-IP platform with 4G memory should be able to run 2 modules I’m afraid that this is not possible for the 1600 with LC. I’ve tried to configure your required setup in our ordering tool and it’s simply not possible. This means that a 1600 LC with APM is not supported by F5.
