Can we consider F5 as a special switch?

The F5 platform does clearly have layer 2 through 7 functionality, and I suppose you could use it as a switch, but that's generally not how it's intended. Can you elaborate on your question?

F5 can be a router (ARM), Firewall (AFM), WAF (ASM), LTM (Local Load Balancer), GTM/DNS (Global Load Balancer) and an access manager (APM) depending on what you want to implement. It does provide L2, L3 capability but its selling point is its L7 capability.
