Mar 08, 2013Can Oneconnect be used for Oracle Database connections?
Management has asked me to look into putting an Oracle database behind F5 to take advantage of connection pooling. I've used Oneconnect for Http, but nothing else. Can this be done? I've seen a couple posts suggesting it can, but they didn't really go into any detail. I appreciate any input.
Thanks,
Chris

Yes, this can be done. I'd like to connect you with the F5 Field Systems Engineer for your organization to assist with this inquiry. Just send me an e-mail at h.willey@f5.com and I'll make the introduction.

Thanks Holly! I sent you an e-mail this evening. To elaborate on what we want to do, I have a large pool of ecom servers that send pricing requests to a large pool of pricing servers. Those pricing servers send lots of queries to our Oracle database. The server the database resides on uses 2+ CPUs just for TCP connection creation and tear down. The goal is to reduce that CPU load as much as possible.
Chris - Holly_W_37599Historic F5 AccountSorry Chris, as mentioned in my follow-up e-mail, I jumped the gun a bit on my answer, so I'm not sure if we'll be able to support this request today. However, you F5 FSE will be in touch to follow-up and assist with your inquiry. Thanks!
