Dec 09, 2009Cacti VS template not working in v10.0
Hi All
I am hoping i can get some help. I have a number of V9 LTM's using this cacti host template and they are all working fine. I am trying to get some of my version 10.0.1.342. I can add the device and I can get the pool stats etc but it will not show any vs data.
If i do a verbose query on the VS-statistics I get the following.
+ Running data query [23].
+ Found type = '3' [snmp query].
+ Found data query XML file at '/var/www/html/resource/snmp_queries/f5_bigip_vs.xml'
+ XML file parsed ok.
+ Executing SNMP walk for list of indexes @ '.1.3.6.1.4.1.3375.2.2.10.2.3.1.1'
+ No SNMP data returned
+ Found data query XML file at '/var/www/html/resource/snmp_queries/f5_bigip_vs.xml'
And no data is returned.I have the F5 Bigip - v.10 Global CPU utilization working so I know SNMP works and the Template see correct. Is there perhaps a new template or a fix to it.
Thanks.

Let me dig in this morning, hopefully I can have some feedback later today or early tomorrow. Is it only the VS template, or are there others? - Donovan_Price_1

HI
CPU is working perfectly. I have not tried creating graphs for the interface statistics but when I do a verbose query it does return info.
I have not tested any others.
Thanks. - JRahm

I don't think there's anything wrong with the template, I think it's a bug. I can walk the snmp index or the virtual servers in 9.x or (beta) 10.1 and the table outputs data as expected. However, in my 10.0 build (10.0.1.354) I get nothing:
[root@golgotha:Active] config snmptranslate -On F5-BIGIP-LOCAL-MIB::ltmVirtualServStat
.1.3.6.1.4.1.3375.2.2.10.2
[root@golgotha:Active] config snmpwalk -v 2c -c public localhost .1.3.6.1.4.1.3375.2.2.10.2
F5-BIGIP-LOCAL-MIB::ltmVirtualServStat = No Such Object available on this agent at this OID
Please open a case on this. - Donovan_Price_1

Hi
I have actually logged a case. C599145. Last messages as below.
"I just wanted to drop you a note and let you know I haven't heard anything back yet on my end on this case. However, since the plan is to distribute the update via DevCentral I am not sure that I necessarily will. Please let me know if there is anything I can currently do to assist. As corporate is closed for holiday in the States today and tomorrow I will check in again on Monday."
They also mentioned earlier in the case that is is not a bug but rather an issue with the template.

Also if I do the following on my V10 unit
[root@LTH-F5N-LTM-01:Active] config snmpwalk -v 2c -c TEST localhost .1.3.6.1.4.1.3375.2.2.10.2
F5-BIGIP-LOCAL-MIB::ltmVirtualServStatResetStats.0 = INTEGER: 0
F5-BIGIP-LOCAL-MIB::ltmVirtualServStatNumber.0 = INTEGER: 132
F5-BIGIP-LOCAL-MIB::ltmVirtualServStatName."VIP1" = STRING: VIP1
F5-BIGIP-LOCAL-MIB::ltmVirtualServStatName."VIP2" = STRING: VIP2
F5-BIGIP-LOCAL-MIB::ltmVirtualServStatName."VIP3" = STRING: VIP3
F5-BIGIP-LOCAL-MIB::ltmVirtualServStatName."VIP4" = STRING: VIP4
F5-BIGIP-LOCAL-MIB::ltmVirtualServStatName."VIP5" = STRING: VIP5
F5-BIGIP-LOCAL-MIB::ltmVirtualServStatName."HOMEPAGE" = STRING: HOMEPAGE

So bizzaro land. Yesterday I got nothing. Today, after rebooting, I see the stats just fine. Is that all you get out of that query, or did you just post the top strings? Try it again after restarting snmpd. - Donovan_Price_1

No I get loads of info. I just sent the top bit. I have tried after SNMPD restart. I have also confirmed via TCPDump on the LTM and the Cacti machine that the packets get to Cacti but Cacti just says No Data. If you add a vip on your unit does it appear in Cacti ? - JRahm

yes, I get it just fine. So scratch the bug part, restarting snmpd fixed the issue on my box. Since you're getting data, though, there's no reason the template shouldn't display it. You could try deleting the vs graphs you already have in place an creating new ones. I'd download the latest template on the wiki page Click here - JRahm

I'm not sure if the f5_bigip_vs.xml file changed between versions, but you can do a diff to make sure. - JRahm
