BIGIP 11.1 - Qkview or Tech.out file directory location
Hi Guys,
I am studying for the 201 and I would like to know where can I locate the Qkview ouput once it is done. When Qkview is executed via WebGUI or command line, where can I find the file?
Also what is the difference between the Qkview and the tech.out exactly?

A tech.out used to be the qkview output in v9. " target="_blank">SOL6825
A tech.out file is produced by the qkview utility in version 9.x, while a .tgz archive is created by the qkview utility in version 10.x and later. The terms tech.out and qkview are often used interchangeably to refer to the diagnostic file created by the qkview script.
[...:Active:In Sync] ~ qkview Gathering System Diagnostics: Please wait ... Diagnostic information has been saved in: /var/tmp/hostname.qkview Please send this file to F5 support. Hi @shaggy, Thanks for your answer. I am running the v11.1 and the output to that is a little different. The extension is .tgz and not Qkview. The directory it shows is the /var/tmp directory and the name of the file. Isn't this file stored anywhere else in the BIG-IP?
Code [root@bigip1:Active] config qkview Gathering System Diagnostics: Please wait ... Diagnostic information has been saved in: /var/tmp/bigip1.f5trn.com.tgz Please send this file to F5 support.- shaggy

the .qkview is a tgz archive with a different extension. I'm not sure when F5 changed it, but you can tar -xvf filename.qkview just as you would a .tgz file - shaggy

technically /var/tmp is a link to /shared/tmp. I don't see any other places where ".qkview" exists when doing a find in bash

Update: Running v12.1.2
QKView is now located in /shared/support/support.tar.gz
The /shared/support folder is only available when a QKView has been created. When the file is deleted via the WebGUI, the folder is also deleted.

If you use the Ansible bigip_qkview module the file will still be located in the /shared/tmp directory, if you generate from the tmui the file is created in the /shared/tmp and moved (and directory created) /shared/support/
