BIG-IP LTM VE (APM) VPN SSL deployment
Hello All,
I've just discovered F5 Big-IP technology and my manager bought BIG-IP LTM VE with the end-goal of using it to provide remote users access to internal ressources (HTTPS, SSH, S/FTP/S) through VPN SSL. I've started dive into the different documentation provided in AskF5 and i must confess that i'm swallowed into the ocean of all the details one have to master/understand to properly deploy the right solution. In my case, i'm seeking your guidance(s) on using BIG-IP LTM with APM module to configure remote access to user with VPN SSL. I've many questions on terms used in the GUI interfaces such as: 1- Why all 4 interfaces are needed in the initial BIG-IP LTM VE configuration(I get the one used for management network) 2- What's a Virtual server in the realm of VPN SSL remote access for users? 3- VLANs? I know what it is but couldn't find a place where to add IP addresses in VLANs properties? 4- What should the default gateway be in Wizards -> Device Wizards -> Policy Name ? The help section in the left pane wasn't clear enough to help me decide what should I put in the corresponding text-box.
I'm really impressed by the level details reached by this virtual appliance and all the possibilities you can achieve if you know your ways around. That's why, i'm looking for guidance to better understand the product.
Hope someone in this active community will find the time to help out.
Many thanks to you all. Anicet S.

Anicet, without answering your individual questions one by one, may i suggest a better approach? The following F5 resources should be able to help with the above and also give you a lot more besides, especially as you are new to F5 products.
Please see the following: BIG-IP APM 11.6.1 Knowledge Center
F5 BIG-IP Access Policy Management Operations Guide
And also if you go to F5 University there is free APM Fundamentals training which details how to setup an SSL VPN and labs to.
Hopefully the above should be of help,
N
