Sep 15, 2010Best way to migrate setup
My current configuration runs on a stand-alone 1600 on OS 10.1 and I'd like to migrate to a newly configured 3600 HA pair.
On the 1600 I have most of my stuff in the Common partition, however there is an additional partition that I may not have to move over (the other team may have completed their need already).
On the new HA pair I'd like to take what I have on the 1600's Common partition and relegate it to its own partition, along with profiles, 20+ pools, 50+ nodes, 3 virtual servers, a few iRules, several monitors, etc.
Is there a way to export, search and replace (to move Common to MyPartition) or similar to avoid a lot of manual and prone to mistake conversion?
Thanks in advance
John Lennon

Is the Single Configuration File (SCF) any use to you?

basically, provides a flat text file of the config. You could then edit/remove stuff and load it onto the new device. Oh, remember to change the hostname and IP's!

Hi Chris,
thank you for the suggestion, this gave me more confidence and I used the F5 iRule editor to move configurations across sections between the old and new bigip.conf. I then used the b load command to find out which lines it wasn't happy about on the new server, fixed them and then adapted manually what was left over.
Once again thank you. - Cspillane_18296

No problem, glad you got it all working!
