ASM sizing exercise

Hello community!

We have a scenario with a customer evaluating a VM-ASM.

In order to suggest the correct model, we asked for the appropiate information (L4, L7 connections, SSL offloading, throughput, etc).

It turns out that even the smallest version of the VM (25 Mbps) will cover widely all the parameters, except the bandwidth issue, which is the following:

They have symmetric link: 2 Mbps And assymetric link: 30 Mbps download, 6 Mbps upload.

If we match the upload and download speeds, we have: 32 download, 8 upload (Mbps)

The customer claims that according to the UTM they have in place, the spike of usage for download and upload is 8 Mbps, this is because the maximum bandwidth that applications can consume is given by the limits in the upload.

We did the economic exercise with 25Mbps VM vs. 200Mbps VM for ASM, and the latter is way over their estimated budget.

The question would be, what would you recommend in this case?

Note 1: We are investigating if this application is only accessed via Internet, because if there are internal users accessing then all of the discussion above is pointless

Note 2: consider that they are not thinking about growth of the bandwidth.

Thanks in advanced.
