APM Across 2 DCs

Hi all,

I have a customer that requires a solution to the following scenario;

2 DCs (different VLANS / Layer 3)

GTM out front for DNS and Data Centre HA

LTM/APM in DMZ for remote access.

3 APM policies

3 Virtual Servers for APM

What they want to acomplish is to configure APM in Active/Active across the DCs, bare in mind this is layer 3.

From what I have read this can be done by having each APM appliance as a "standalone" and have config sync running between the two APM appliances. This will also mean that each APM appliance will need to service one or two of the APM policies as you cannot have each processing all 3 policies.

From the above, the downfalls of this setup is there is no network HA due to no failover configured for each APM appliance and therefore in the event of a failure, the remote users will need to re-establish their remote session.

One thing I can't understand is how the appliancations will failover to the other if there is no network failover!? I haven't been able to find any F5 documentation that contains this scenario which hasn't helped me.

Perhaps i ready something wrong of don't fully understand the "Active/Active" setup for APM across different DCs or even if this is at all possible.

Any help would be great guys, especially around the APM Active/Active side across the two layer 3 DCs.

Thanks

Nick
