Add an existing file server to a vip and a pool for https traffic, breaks other services trying to access the file server directly?

Have F5 LTM V11.6.0 HF5.

 

Sort of an easy basic question:

 

Recently placed an existing file server behind a new VIP and a pool just for balancing https traffic. Now, other servers and hosts cannot communicate directly with the server (going direct to node IP address, not the VIP address). In this case it is a database application that times out when trying to connect to the file server. It was working before I created the VIP/pool for this file server.

 

Is this normal behavior? Thanks, Ed
