Jun 09, 2009Add a new F5 GTM to existing infrastructure
I have an existing F5 GTM in production running as a single unit. I have a new unit and need to configure the new and existing units as an active/active redundant pair. I believe I have the correct steps to configure this setup but I wanted to throw this out there in case I'm missing something or if someone has run into problems doing this.
Steps for existing Unit
- Go to System -> Platform and change the High Availability option to Redundant Pair
- Go to System -> High Availability and configure options for HA including redundancy state, fail over type, down-time on
fail over, and mirror address
Steps for new Unit
- Connect to network
- Run gtm_add
- Run big3d_install
- Run the Configuration utility to configure HA Options
- Synchronize configuration from existing unit
I would just like to know if I'm missing anything or if you have any advice for a smooth install.
Thanks

They way I have configured mine is that they are single units but followed the instructions to create a master slave for replication only. They are redundant in a sense they that they replicate their DNS records without being active/passive. - dstogsdill_2492

Thanks for the reply, however, that wont work in our environment. I did find a document on on AskF5 that more or less answered my question. In case anyone is pursuing a similar setup check out the following link.
