Activesync & LDAP authentication

I am trying to authenticate some mobile users, using Activesync, against Active Directory. I can bind successfully and I can see the LDAP query, however, the 'username' parameter that is passed from Activesync to the BigIP contains the domain name (i.e domain\usename). The LDAP query fails because there is no AD attribute that contains 'domain\usename'. Does anyone know if an iRule can be used to parse the domain name from the username parameter? If so, what would it look like?
