Activate DoS Prevention Attacks

I want to know how can I activate the DoS Prevention after setting Prevention Thresholds (Security / DoS Protection / Device Configuration).

 

I want to know if it's necessary assign the DoS Profile in a Virtual Server for activate those Dos Prevention Theresholds.

 

What is the best way for configure and activate DoS sweep and flood prevention through the Device DoS profile?
