About Failover Method..

Hi,

When configuring a traffic-group it is possible to specify a failover method other than LOAD AWARE. If only 2 systems exists (1 Active - 1 Passive), does it make sense to create an HA GROUP?

In other words, is there any sense in using another method than Load Aware?

The only functionality that justifies HA Groups or HA Order in Active/Pasive scenario that I can see is to enable Auto Failback option, is that correct?

Thanks!!

  • Hi,

I prefer using HA order with autofailback disabled to make sure that if my active unit fail, the second in my device group will go active but never come back active on the first device.

Load aware is mostly to be used when you have a device group with dissimilar bigips. I definetly recommend ha order

Sure, HA order take the next available device in the order that you define

HA group define a health score based on pool, trunk and cluster health and cause a failover to the device with highest health score when the active device goes below a health value
