Mar 03, 20092 hour idle connection close
We have set up a BIGIP LTM as a "pass through" from our App Server to our database to get from one vlan to another. App server in vlan 1 and database in vlan 2.
We have a number of connections to the database that are kept up but are idle overnight. After 2 hours of idleness, the connections are reset by the BIGIP. The application still thinks they are fine until the app tries to use them.
Is this "normal" behavior? is the 2 hours a default for "pass through" (non HTTP) traffic on the BIGIP?
How can we keep these open? Is the only answer a change to the BIGIP?
Thanks!

Hi Chris,
There is a TCP idle timeout configured on the object that the traffic is handled by. This could be a virtual server, NAT or SNAT. You can read AskF5 SOL7606 (Click here) for details.
