At this point, I'm just trying to get a handle on why persistence isn't working and looking at anything that could be the cause. I don't know how the F5 handles the source ip sessions and whether or not it links them to a session id in the tables or if it does it the other way around... I don't know how long we've experienced the problems because it's so infrequent and I've only had it happen to me a few times in the past year and I use the web servers every day. Some folks have it happen much more frequently, for some reason.
I just read up on CMP. I didn't realize that was even an option/problem. I always make the assumption that a persistence profile defined by a vendor is going to fine-tune the device so it actually keeps persistence...
I'll disable it for the virtual servers in question and see what happens in the server logs.
