Hello All! I have a strange situation and I'm sure we're simply missing something simple here. The initial goal: Configure a WIP for a smtp FQDN with a PROD and DR pool behind it where GTM will resolve only to IP's in the PROD pool until all PROD pool IP's are down, after which is will resolve IP's in the DR pool. The issue: We have a simple WIP with two pools (PROD and DR) behind it set to Global Availability load balancing method. During our testing, we simply disable the services on the PROD pool which triggers the monitor to mark the servers/pool as down. The problem is, even if the GTM marks the pool as down, it will still resolve IP's in the PROD pool. It does resolve to IP's in the DR pool as well, but it flaps back and forth between IP's in both the PROD and DR pools. I'd be happy to provide more info, but this is truly as basic of a config as I can think of. One WIP, two pools of generic hosts yet when one pool goes down, the GTM still answers to IP's in the down pool. Any suggestions are welcome as this is holding us up on putting this into production prior to BCP/DR testing scheduled before the end of the year. :)519Views0likes2CommentsHow To Tell When GTM Responds With iRule Address Or Fallback Address?
Out Enterprise DNS delegates A-Record responses for a particular Wide IP domain. My WideIP's Pool Member Fallback address is the default A-Record response. The WIP iRule contains the logic that if the DNS query is sourced from a particular address, a different A-Record is returned. How do I tell whether the WideIP is responding with it's Fallback IP address or with the address stated within the iRule? If I go to DNS>GSLB>Wide IP List> Select the Wide IP and go to Statistics, I do see Requests: Total 225 Persisted 0 A 155 AAAA 70 Resolved 155 Dropped 0 Load Balancing: Preferred 155 Alternate 0 Fallback 0 CNAME Res 0 Returned to DNS 11 Returned from DNS 0 I've also tried tcpdump -vv but the packets don't state what the GTM responds with, for the particular DNS queries. Thanks for any/all help! Mike264Views0likes1CommentWIP aliases are not appeared in zone runner's resource records
Hi everyone, I just wondering if anybody else faced an issue described in the subject. Generally, when I add alias to wide ip the corresponding record with TTL 0 and type CNAME appeared in zone runner. But recently I noticed that this behaviour is not the same any more, some aliases are propagated into zone runner and some not. Is it a bug? Thanks!249Views0likes1Comment
