According to our official numbers (http://www.f5.com/pdf/white-papers/dns-services-big-ip-v11-wp.pdf), a unit running DNS Express will be capable of handling 125-200k qps per core. A 3900 (quad-core CPU) should be able to do half a million queries per second easily (500k qps).
