Well said. With regards to your conclusion, a good naming convention (assuming it carries over into the dns infrastructure), the future sysadmins will not only thank you, they'll get up to speed on what is where far more quickly.

 

 

Unfortunately, I've seen in some places I've worked things like naming conventions and other lack of documentation and access used as pawns in the game of job security. Petty, I know, but it's out there.
