LTM from DC to DR

Hi All,

Our main data center has an F5 LTM installed on a virtual machine (VM) in a standalone configuration. We have a point-to-point connection between the main data center and the DR site. We’d like to extend the LTM functionality to the DR site for load balancing purposes. Can you advise on how to leverage the existing LTM for our DR site?

Stretching BIG-IP HA across datacenters is not recommended.  Depending on the L3 architecture, it is probably best to run the DR instance as a distinct standalone from the main datacenter.  This will better suite the L2/L3 network in DR.
