F5 UCS migration failing with bad license

I am trying to migrating my F5 BIGIP device to another device. When I try to migrate the UCS file, it fails and says the Licensing with registration key has failed. I have already put the license key on the device and it is the same

  • Hi.

Understanding that your new device is the same platform, and already licensed.

This is happening because when you restore your old UCS, it is also trying to restore old license (that is stored in /config/ directory in UCS). The old license in that UCS file is no longer valid as it was for an old box.

So, you need to restore the UCS in tmsh using the no-license switch. I believe this is explained in following article. And yes, it's a known behaviour I think.

Thank you. I got the ucs loaded but now when I try to access the device thru the web interface I get "You don’t have permission to access the selected object". When I try to access thru putty I get a "Server unexpectedly closed network connection". • Hmm looks like there is something in the config (/config/bigip_base.conf) restricting which IP's can administer the device via the web interface (i.e: httpd allow).

This solution article may guide you on that:
