Demo Guide: F5 Distributed Cloud DNS (SaaS Console)

DNS, a Domain Name Service is a mechanism of how humans and machines discover where to connect. It is the universal directory of addresses to names. It is the most prominent feature that every service on the Internet depends on. It will be very critical to keep our organizations online in the midst of DDoS attacks.

We usually encounter with multiple scenarios of DNS failure in single on-prem, CPE based DNS solutions with backup or a single cloud DNS solution struggling with increasing traffic demands. Also, when we extend our traditional DNS to an organization’s websites and applications across different environments, most of the on-premises DNS solutions don’t scale efficiently to support today’s ever expanding app footprints.

F5 Distributed Cloud DNS simplifies all these problems by acting as both Primary or Secondary nameservers and provides global security, automatic failover, DDoS protection, TSIG authentication support, and when used as a secondary DNS – DNSSEC support. With the increase in deployment of app in cloud, F5 XC DNS helps to scale up and provide regional DNS as well.

It also acts as an intelligent DNS Load Balancer from F5 which directs application traffic across the environments globally. It performs health checks, provides disaster recovery, and automates responses to activities and events to maintain high performance among applications not only that it has regional DNS that helps to redirect traffic according to the Geographical location there by reducing load on single DNS server.

Here are the key areas where F5 Distributed Cloud DNS plays a vital role to solve:

  • Failover with Secondary DNS
  • Secure secondary DNS
  • Primary DNS
  • Powerful DNS Load Balancing and Disaster Recovery

There is a GitHub repo that is available and helps to deploy the services for the above key features.

Finally, this demo guide supports the customers by giving a clear instruction set  and a detto deploy the services using F5 Distributed Cloud DNS.
