Come kick our LBaaS at OpenStack Summit

#OpenStack #cloud

Momentum behind OpenStack continues to accelerate as the releases for the often touted open source cloud management framework mature and stabilize. Some of that momentum comes from early adopters who've put the system through its paces in real enterprise and web-scale environments.

RedHat, certainly one of the heavyweights in the industry current all in for OpenStack, offered up survey results indicating that 84% of the 200 US enterprise decision makers were planning on OpenStack being part of their future private cloud plans. Given that the same survey concluded "resource management" as the top challenge faced in private cloud development, that's no surprise. It's what cloud management platforms like OpenStack are for: simplifying and automating resource (compute, network, storage) management through standardization on a common management platform. Abstraction of the underlying systems atop which critical (and not-so-critical-but-nonetheless-important) applications can be rapidly deployed, scaled, secured and managed. That's cloud, in another word, and its the light at the end of the transformation tunnel through which many enterprises are currently traveling.

One of the key components of any cloud designed for enterprise and web-scale environments centers on load balancing services. Without load balancing services, the ability to scale out on demand (elasticity) cannot be realized. If it's not the cornerstone of a cloud computing environment, then it's the keystone. Without it, you have a whole lot of easily provisioned services but no way to glue them together to scale.

Given that F5 has been an expert in load balancing for almost two decades now, it should be no surprise that we've got some news you'll be happy to hear next week when the show opens Monday.

The OpenStack Stack

F5 will be at OpenStack Summit next week and you're welcome to stop by the booth (E47) and hear what we've got cooking with respect to more integration with and support for OpenStack.

On Wed, May 14 @ 3:20pm in the Expo Hall Demo Theatre, our OpenStack expert extraordinaire, John Gruber will join Dir. Product Management, Ranjeet Sonone, for a presentation on F5 and OpenStack integration. You'll learn about all our capabilities for OpenStack public, private and hybrid cloud solutions. If you attend, you'll also be entered to win a Jawbone Jambox.

If you can't attend or just want to keep track of us during the show, you can follow us on twitter @f5networks. And don't forget to keep track of what's going on throughout the week by tracking #OpenStack and following the summit on Twitter
