Jun 28, 2006Traffic duplication
Hi i-Rules Gurus,
I am new to i-rules and the problem is:
I need to duplicate the traffic sent to a virtual server over two different pools.
Cloning Pools would "mirror" the traffic but want I need to do is to "copy" traffic i.e. the destination IP address on the internal side changes depending if traffic goes to pool1 or pool2.
Thanks you.
/Carlos

Hi Carlos,
I don't think there is any method for doing this in 4.x or 9.x using iRules or any configuration option.
How would you want the BIG-IP to handle getting a separate response from two different nodes for one client request?
I don't see how this would work.

Or do you mean that you want the traffic cloned to clone pool 1 if the request is routed to pool A and cloned to pool 2 if the request is routed to pool B?

Aaron,
Thanks for stopping by in this subject ...
This is to feed RADIUS accounting packets into a traffic and a lab system, so I don't really need the reply from the lab system just from the production one.

Hi Carlos,
I don't think there is any way to do this in 4.x.
What are you trying to accomplish by sending the traffic to the dev system?
If you are trying to replicate production requests to the dev system, you could conceivably use tcpdump and a utility to replay the requests to the other system.
